Reference soil DE015: Luvic Phaeozems

A well drained soil that has been under cultivation for centuries, derived from calcareous loess of late-Pleistocene. In the Ap horizons few small horizontal lenses and laminae of lighter coloured silty material (10 YR 4/3, thickness 1-2 mm, length 1-3 cm) appear. The soil is very porous and nutritious with worm casts and animal burrows throughout the profile, often filled with material of upper horizons. authors: Creutzberg/Roeschmann (additional climatic data: insolation (hrs))
