The name comes from the greek 'rhegos' :blanket meaning young soils on weathering materials.

Reference soil PE017: Regosols

Short field description A very deep, excessively drained, (very) gravelly pale brown sand. A clear stratification is presented by differences in size and quantity of sand and gravel. Some lenses of finer material are present in the third and fifth horizons. The larger stones have been removed from the topsoil. The land has been cultivated with irrigation for about 10 years, using a high technology level (fertilizers, pesticides, sprinkle irrigation). " X " in the climate data refers to the cloud cover in eighths.
